UMC expands Wi-Fi coverage in the South of Ukraine

Ukrainian mobile operator UMC expanded Wi-Fi coverage in the south of Ukraine and started providing high speed Internet in Kherson. Thus, UMC subscribers are able to use an innovative service of high speed Internet access already in 12 Ukrainian cities. The new spot of access to Wi-Fi is open in the centre of Kherson. The cost for 1 Mb of data using Wi-Fi service is 50 copecks.

Today Wi-Fi service from UMC can be used in 47 spots based in large trade and business centres, hotels, cafes and restaurants of major Ukrainian cities.

UMC became the first company among Ukrainian mobile operators that launched Wi-Fi revenue service for its subscribers in June 2006. During the last year the service was used by more than 9,500 subscribers. The company is planning to constantly expand the number of Wi-Fi access spots which allows using all the advantages of high speed Internet.

Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) is a technology of wireless data transfer based on IEEE 802.11x standard, which is used for creating wireless networks of Internet access and data transfer. The service is available for the users of mobile phones, PCs and laptops supporting Wi-Fi technology.
